ABOUT YOU

As the Account Manager, you are an ambitious and proactive member of the Client Services team and are responsible for being the primary interface between Freedman and our clients. You’ll support the Account Director on client development, growth, retention and profitability for a portfolio of accounts. You’ll build strong relationships with clients and act as a trusted advisor to help them to achieve the best possible outcomes through your own work and the work of the team that you support.

As an excellent Account Manager, you will earn your team’s and your clients’ trust in no time; you will acquire account, brand and industry knowledge rapidly and you will manage fast paced, high volume workload on a day to day with ease. You have a strategic mindset and will proactively find account opportunities by thinking outside the box and being a problem solver at heart.

Your key responsibilities are:

Client Management & Delivery

  • Building strong relationships with clients positioning yourself and the agency as trusted advisors
  • Support your Account Director to define and deliver against account goals and budgets
  • Presenting ideas to clients, demonstrating in-depth understanding of your client’s context, competitors and industry
  • Supporting your Account Director in developing agendas for, organising and running client meetings
  • Be recognised by the client as the main point of contact for all tactical materials on your accounts and as a core member of the agency team
  • Tracking your accounts, sharing updates and status reviews with your Account Director
  • Keeping abreast of industry trends and devising new, innovative ways and processes to support project delivery
  • Ensuring the agency doesn’t miss any opportunity to strengthen client relationships; uses market insight and an understanding of client’s future strategy to find commercially appropriate ways to respond to client briefs and propose new projects
  • Drive global to local strategic projects with the support of the Global Strategy Director
  • Ensure management and successful delivery of client expectations, keeping all stakeholders informed of the progress of projects and comms (internal & external) and dealing with or escalating any issues efficiently
  • Define responsibilities, set direction and allocate tasks within the team to effectively perform your work
  • Responsible for performing client inductions and demos to Freedman tools

Commercial/Profitability

  • Drafting proposals, presentations and pitch work for discussion with your Account Director
  • Ensuring that clients are aware of all the services Freedman can offer
  • Proactively looking for new business opportunities and sharing them with your Account Director
  • Tracking and managing account forecasts, attending and preparing for status meetings with Finance team and Account Director to ensure all targets are met
  • Collaborating with the Client Services team to deliver the Account team’s strategic and financial objectives
  • Collating costing information for approval or use by a senior member of the team
  • Reviewing costs against budget on an ongoing basis and flag any issues to your Account Director
  • Liaising with the Financial Controller to ensure prompt payment of client invoices
  • Working closely with the Financial Controller, submitting WIP and client monies information when requested
  • Once the above as internally reviewed and approved, present them to client teams

People

  • Fostering good relationships with all internal departments and cross-functional teams
  • Supporting the development of an Account Executive by sharing relevant experiences
  • Proactively supporting your Account Director, suggesting new ideas and questioning thinking where appropriate
  • Champion the importance of teamwork and motivate others around them. Encouraging pro-activeness and solution driven approaches
  • Oversee the team’s deliverables and provide day to day leadership on your projects and/or delivery area, managing multiple workstreams and colleagues
  • Raising your internal profile through knowledge sharing and internal presentations
  • Supervising and managing any direct reports in their day-to-day role, providing effective line management
  • Motivating, empowering, and inspiring others around you, exemplifying Freedman’s values
  • Being able to gain trust from the team and display clear and effective management skills as well as the role model behaviours at your level

Your Capabilities are:

  • Some experience gained at Account Manager level within a creative/marketing agency
  • Previous, demonstrable experience managing mid-senior level client relationships and expectations
  • Experience in creating strong client facing strategic reports and decks
  • A natural and strong ability to oversee, grow and maintain accounts, receiving positive client feedback
  • A strong operational and logical approach to client and account management
  • Experience in building successful relationships & rapidly earning trust both internally and externally
  • An interest in, and working knowledge of, the commercial elements of client accounts, with experience of tracking, quoting and reporting key financial information e.g. profits, margins
  • Experience mentoring and training more junior members of a client servicing team
  • Exceptional attention to detail and/or experience performing output quality control
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills
  • Ambitious nature with a strong drive to progress and succeed, both as a team and as an individual
  • Keen interest in working within a production agency, contributing to the account and overall department’s vision and strategy
  • An interest in innovation and advertising/marketing and a working knowledge of the industry
  • Degree in marketing, communications, business, or related field preferable but not essential
